The part you see is the stone. The part that lasts is the base. We build both.
A patio that dips after one winter was never a patio — it was stone on dirt. We excavate, compact, bed, edge, and cut so the surface stays true through freeze-thaw and the kind of use a real backyard gets.
Dining pads, fire-pit pads, walks to the door, and full patios. We match the stone to the house and the Interior light — charcoal, tan, and mixed blends that don’t look like a showroom floor dropped on the grass.

Stake it on the ground
We mark the pad to the furniture, the door, and the view — not just a rectangle that looked fine on paper.

Build the base
This is the job. Depth, gravel, and compaction decide whether you still like the patio in five years.

Lay and lock
Pattern, cuts, border, and joint sand. You should see a finished room, not a pile of leftover cuts along the fence.
Questions we get
Do you do the excavation?
Yes. We bring a mini excavator and a dump trailer so the old dirt actually leaves the site.
What about freeze-thaw?
That’s why the base is not optional in Merritt. We build for frost, not for a coastal patio brochure.
Can pavers sit next to turf or xeriscape?
That’s the usual finish. A charcoal pad against gravel and grasses is one of the cleanest looks we install.
